We Opened Our Doors at DIMF 2017 and Let the World See Greatness

This year’s Doosan International Machine Tool Fair (DIMF) brought thousands of manufacturers from all corners of the world to South Korea to experience everything that Doosan Machine Tools has to offer. Over 80 machines were powered up and throwing chips non-stop from May 17th- 20th, showcasing our latest technical advancements at what has become South Korea’s largest machine tool open house.

A good chunk of our Doosan portfolio was proudly on display—from new high-speed drill/tap centers and high-production horizontal machining centers, to compact footprint vertical machining centers and next generation multi-tasking turning centers. Plus, our engineering team was on hand to answer questions and show off how each of these machines delivers time after time.

Visitors were encouraged to take a walk through both our Namsan and Seongju factories. Bill Carr, Director of Key Accounts at Doosan, and also DIMF pro—he’s been to every one since 2009—travelled with three of his clients from different parts of North America to DIMF so they could witness everything that goes into building their mission-critical machines. Carr mentioned that his clients came away from DIMF impressed with the scope of our operations, vast product lineup and new advancements in machine tool technology.

Dan Domine, a Doosan Distributor from Ellison Technologies and a first time DIMF attendee, also had three customers in attendance at DIMF this year. Seeing our large scale manufacturing operations completely grabbed their attention, while the new NHP horizontal machining centers stood out like a beacon to Domine. “The updated design and improved speeds and high horsepower of the NHP 4000 make it perfect for my customers in a wide range of industries,” Domine said. “They’re competitive with HMCs from Makino, DMG Mori and Okuma at a much better price point.”

While machine tools and factory tours provide exciting stories to tell at your next party, we wanted to share our passion for Korean culture as well. Visitors were encouraged to try on traditional Korean garb, get their names hand painted on paper fans in Korean calligraphy, and eat heaps of exceptional Korean BBQ. Most also joined us on a quick trip to Seoul, checking out the key cultural sites, killer shopping and frenetic nightlife.
